Data Sharing and Reproducibility
Ceniiac Journal — ISSN 3105-6237 — recognizes data sharing and reproducibility as fundamental pillars of open and transparent research. We encourage authors to share datasets, codes, and methodologies in a way that is accessible and verifiable.
Our policy follows the recommendations of international organizations such as COPE, the Center for Open Science (COS), and the FAIR Data Principles.
1. Principles of Data Sharing
- Accessibility: Data should be deposited in open repositories with persistent identifiers (e.g., DOIs).
- Reusability: Data must be provided in standardized formats for easy interpretation.
- Proper Citation: Datasets should be cited to credit authors.
- Ethical Compliance: No data should be shared if it violates privacy or confidentiality rules.
2. Guidelines for Data Publication
2.1 Accepted Data Formats
- Tabular: CSV, XLSX, JSON
- Images: TIFF, PNG, JPEG
- Structured: XML, RDF
- Code: R, Python, MATLAB, Jupyter Notebooks
2.2 Where to Store Data
- Zenodo – EU repository with free DOIs.
- Figshare – Generalist data repository.
- Dryad – Peer-reviewed scientific datasets.
- OSF – Platform for open science and collaboration.
- Harvard Dataverse – Multidisciplinary repository.
Authors must include dataset links in their manuscripts.
3. How to Cite Data
Datasets must be cited in the reference section. Example:
Generic format:
Author(s). (Year). Dataset title [Data set]. Repository. DOI/URL
APA 7 Example:
Smith, J., & García, M. (2024). Experimental data on machine learning for manufacturing [Data set]. Zenodo. https://doi.org/10.xxxx
4. Reproducibility of Results
To strengthen reproducibility, authors should:
- Provide detailed methodology in “Materials and Methods”.
- Upload code to GitHub or Code Ocean.
- Use DOIs for datasets.
- Indicate restrictions due to confidentiality or privacy concerns.
5. Sensitive or Restricted Data
- Explain in the manuscript why data cannot be shared.
- Provide metadata to describe the dataset.
- Submit exemption requests to ceniiac.com@gmail.com.
6. Benefits of Data Sharing
- Greater visibility and citations.
- Facilitates collaboration.
- Meets international indexing standards.
- Promotes scientific integrity.
Ceniiac Journal promotes open access to data and reproducibility. Authors are encouraged to follow these recommendations to improve research quality and transparency.
