Authorship and Contribution Policy
At Ceniiac Journal — ISSN 3105-6237 — authorship must accurately reflect the intellectual contributions of each individual involved in the research. We adhere to the ICMJE criteria and promote transparency in author contribution statements.
Authorship Criteria
To be listed as an author in a manuscript submitted to Ceniiac Journal, an individual must meet all four criteria below:
- Significant contribution to the conception or design of the study, data collection, analysis, or interpretation.
- Drafting or critically reviewing the manuscript with substantial intellectual input.
- Final approval of the version to be published.
- Accountability for the accuracy and integrity of all aspects of the work.
Individuals who do not meet these criteria should be acknowledged in the “Acknowledgments” section but should not be listed as authors.
Types of Contributions
To enhance transparency, Ceniiac Journal encourages the use of the CRediT Taxonomy, which identifies the following roles:
- Conceptualization: Defining the research problem.
- Methodology: Designing methods or processes used.
- Software: Programming, coding, and computational analysis.
- Validation: Verifying the accuracy of results.
- Formal analysis: Statistical and mathematical analysis.
- Investigation: Data collection.
- Resources: Providing critical tools or data.
- Writing – Original Draft: Preparing the first manuscript version.
- Writing – Review & Editing: Substantially improving the manuscript.
- Supervision: Managing the research process.
- Funding acquisition: Securing financial resources for the study.
During manuscript submission, authors must specify their role(s) in the research process.
Order of Authors
The order of authors should be agreed upon by all contributors before manuscript submission. A common structure includes:
- First Author: Main contribution to research and writing.
- Middle Authors: Significant contributions but not qualifying as first or last author.
- Last Author: Typically the supervisor or senior researcher leading the study.
To prevent disputes, authors are encouraged to use tools like Authorship Agreement Templates (COPE example).
Changes in Authorship After Submission
If a change in authorship (addition, removal, or reordering) is necessary, the following steps must be taken:
- The corresponding author must submit a formal request to the editorial office.
- The request must include a detailed explanation for the change.
- A signed statement of approval from all affected authors must be provided.
The editorial board will evaluate the request following COPE’s guidelines.
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for:
- Managing communication with the journal.
- Ensuring all authors meet the authorship criteria.
- Responding to inquiries after publication.
The corresponding author’s email will be published with the article to facilitate scientific communication.
Author Contribution Statement
Ceniiac Journal requires all manuscripts to include an Author Contribution Statement. Example:
Example Statement:
"J. Pérez designed the study and conducted statistical analysis. M. Rodríguez collected data and drafted the initial manuscript. C. Gómez supervised the research and revised the manuscript. All authors approved the final version and take responsibility for the content."
Authorship and Ethical Considerations
- Ghost Authorship: Substantial contribution not credited. Not allowed.
- Honorary Authorship: Listing without significant contribution. Not allowed.
- Duplicate Publication: Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals. Not allowed. (COPE policies)
If misconduct is detected, the article may be rejected or retracted.
